In other words, I have a completely powered off VM (as far as I can tell), but cannot create a clone of a snapshot, as VMWare seems to think it is still active for some unknown reason. (I am attempting to clone the "Install Complete" snapshot) The attached image will show the Clone dialog, indicating the issue - and behind it, the powered off VM (ie - the cloning process cannot continue) vmdk) and then create a new VM using the cloned virtual disk rather than to create a new one. What you can do is to clone the virtual disk manually using the vmware-vdiskmanager command line tool (using the required snapshot as the source. The only option available from the dialog is to "Cancel". Welcome to the Community, the reason for this is that the VM was powered on at the time you created the snapshot. However, when attempting to create a clone of the snapshot, the dialog indicates that the VM must be powered down first (which I believe it to be) before a clone can be made. (the VM has been powered down from within the OS, and no "Power Off" options are available in the "Power" menu after OS has powered down, indicating (as far as I can tell) that the VM is completely powered off) The snapshot is about two snapshots behind "You are here" - the current state.
